André was conferred with his LLB degree in 2016 at the University of the Free State. Having served his articles of clerkship at Strauss Daly Inc, he was admitted as an attorney of the High Court in 2020.

In addition to being an attorney, André is a decorated karate champion. He represented South Africa at the 2008, 2010 and 2012 Commonwealth Games in karate, where he won three gold medals. He also competed in the 2011 karate world championships.
