We record the end of another era as we pay tribute to Adrian Stowell, our Pietermaritzburg local attorney serving the KZN Deeds Office, who passed away yesterday.
I first met Adrian, whose father founded the firm Stowell and Company, in 1982 when I commenced articles, fresh out of University when I completed my law degree. Adrian was always available to take my call, and always had just the right answer to a conveyancing matter that might have been perplexing me. He was my trusted uncle in the lawyer business and Stowells have always been our helping hand in Pietermaritzburg ensuring our property registrations are handled efficiently and professionally at all times.
Stowell and Co are our representative attorneys at the Deeds Office, lodging and registering conveyancing transfers and mortgage bonds for our clients.
Adrian in his time also served as Chairman of the Comrades Marathon Association, and over the years, my previous firm, and then Mc Naught and Company, used Stowells exclusively over the 42 years I have been associated with them.
According to a bulletin from Stowells "Adrian's dedication to the legal profession was exceptional continuing a family legacy that spanned four generations. His commitment to his work, his clients and his colleagues was exemplary."
We extend our sympathies to his family and Stowell and Co as we remember Adrian for the great lawyer and friend he was to us.
