It all started with DG Clark Estates and Mc Naught and Co on the Bluff, Durban and today we're in France.
The objective of our roadtrip from Portugal to France was to meet up with my long time friend and business associate Shirley Black from the Bluff who retired to France some 20 years ago and settled in a farming area in the cognac producing area of France, adjacent to the Bordeaux wine region. We have driven for days now though fields of vineyards and it's all farming and vines as far as you can see. It was wonderful to meet up with Shirley again and we are spending two days together (day 10 and 11 of our trip) at an Airbnb in the Blaye area not too far from her home, exploring the neighbouring areas together.
We hope to do some craft beer tasting and maybe some cognac tasting, although I'm happier with brandy and coke ha ha. A neat cognac is a bit too hectic for me. It's an almost surreal feeling chatting to Shirley like it was yesterday back on the Bluff where she ran DG Clark estates and Mc Naught and Co were handling the conveyancing, but here we are in a remote location in France, catching up on old times and memories together.
It's wonderful that friendship can last like this despite living so far apart and not having seen each other for decades.
