When downloading a new App or joining any online service, you are usually presented with a long legal document over several pages which you are supposed to read (scroll down to the end) and accept.
TikTok in particular obtains your consent to capturing:
Your GPS location
Device information
Camera access
Your contact list
Your microphone access
In addition TikTok can:
Access your wi-fi connection details
Read and write to your device storage
Request additional installation packages
Automatically restart itself when your device restarts
It can send back to it's servers your following information:
Your timezone
Your location co-ordinates - longitude and latitude
Android ID/IMEI - unique device identifiers
Device carrier region, network code and connection type
Everything in your address book
(while you watch dancing videos)
OTHER SOCIAL PLATFORMS
INSTAGRAM collects location, contacts, content, usage.
FACEBOOK collects location, contacts, browsing, purchase history.
TIKTOK collects all of the above plus deeper device data.
This is why TikTok was briefly banned in the US as a national security risk and multiple investigations are still studying it.
LIMITING SECURITY RISK
A number of security reomnendations are available to limit users risk and data exposure and I'm reproducing a link below.
